Dear Friends,

There is only four days left and more than 50% of the goal still to be achieved. So the questions is: Do you want to see this project happen? 

I have been working in African music for 30+ years: I played flute on the first African music record ever produced in Canada. I have been a member of some of the most significant groups on the New York City African music scene. I am the first North American to play the tambin at a professional level. In 2002, I produced and released the first-ever record dedicated to the tambin: "Fula Flute" which has been a staple of Guinean radio and television for a decade, I hear it played on the air every time I am in Guinea. They use our music as soundtrack for movies, dramatic series, news broadcast theme music, background music for children's stories, commercials, etc., as well as playing it outright alongside celebrated traditional music. In 2007, it was reported to me that when the population of Conakry went on general strike and took to the streets, to calm the spirits, the RTG, the national radio, broadcasted only the deepest traditional music around the clock: El Hadj Djeli Sory's balafon, Gambian kora, Sory Kandia's epic songs, and Fula Flute in its entirety! The whole CD on rotation around the clock for a week!!

I am not pointing this out to brag, although I am very proud of it, but to show that my relationship with Guinea and its culture proceeds from sincere love, understanding and experience.
